I, LukeConnell Vandeverre have not disappeared at all and never did disappear. I have logged into Second Life on a regular basis to receive and respond to any Instant messages from Second Life users. The website has clear activity with a new message displaying coming soon to clearly show that we are getting close to the completion and launch of the new platform.
The WSE predicted the actions of Linden Lab back in July 2007 and as a result we began preparations to discontinue using the Linden Dollar feature of Second life. The upgrade to WSE 4.0 is a standard part of the growing and development process in order to provide a more stable, secure and reliable service to existing users and in preparation for the anticipated growth expected when the WSE reopens. When the WSE opens it will have evolved from an experimental service operating in the virtual world to a fully interactive Internet based securities exchange and banking role playing game providing general Internet users around the world with the ideal simulated trading and banking environment to learn and have fun.
The WSE will now operate using fictional currency called the World Internet Currency (WIC, W$). When using the WIC users are issued with a limited license by WIC Exchange that has the potential to be purchased and sold for USD, EURO, AUD currencies using PayPal, Visa and Mastercard. The value of the WIC license is determined by an exchange rate set by WIC Exchange, the rate is then applied to the total amount of WIC assigned to that license at the time of the transaction.
